Join the Hidden Craters Hike for a Big Island off-road climb and hike up the cool and misty slopes of Hualalai volcano. 4 Wheel Drive vans carry you up most of the way to 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) elevation before you begin your on-foot ascent to visit a surreal scene of lava flows and a forest full of native birdsong. This hike was an absolute thrill! Scaling rugged volcanic flows, circling the rims of massive craters and trekking through lush native forests, felt like stepping into another world. The guides were phenomenal—super knowledgeable and incredibly passionate. Their storytelling brought everything to life, from the fascinating science of volcanoes to the unique native plants and cultural insights. This isn’t just a hike; it’s an unforgettable journey through nature and history. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an adventure that’s as educational as it is exciting!

Loved the Hawaii Forest & Trail tour of Hidden Craters - our guide, Mark, was really knowledgeable and passionate about plants, geology, history, and how all the elements of the ecosystem work together. His enthusiasm made it very fun and interesting, plus we liked that he clearly has a respect for the land and the history. Loved walking high ridges and dipping down into lava tubes. This was really fun, I feel like it helped us understand Hawaii better, and I highly recommend it.
