On this 3-hour excursion you can expect to see and snorkel with as much sea life as possible. Trust our Captains and Crew with their knowledge of the Kona Coast and all the beauty it has to offer. Keep your eyes out for spinner dolphins, turtles, whales, colorful schools of fish and vibrant reef. You will make your way down the beautiful Kona Coast heading north to Pu‘u Ali‘i Bay, home of beautiful Makalawena. And believe us when we say, this is one of the most stunning locations on the Big Island. Lava rock and tranquil water is the draw to this remote cove. With 100’s of underwater species to see, this entire area is very rich in marine life. Excellent snorkeling along the lava rock outcroppings that run along the multiple coves. Location may change due to weather and sea conditions. Price includes all necessary gear: Mask, fins, snorkel and flotation devices if needed. Light snacks and soda/water. Make sure to bring your camera to capture all of the beauty this trip offers!!

Great experience for those that love to be in the water! Right off the bat, we saw a group of dolphins that swam up to the boat and we saw a baby dolphin! Our guides were super helpful and they offered to dive to take footage of reef sharks! Amazing experience, would do it again!

Literally what an amazing day out on the ocean. The first spot was a little rough because there was a swell coming in from the south, so the two captain Taylor’s and Justice decided to go way out of the way up north down the coast to a beautiful secluded beach that was protected from the direction the swell was coming. On the way we saw a whole pod of spinner dolphins, and what an amazing treat. When we got to our second spot the water was so calm and the brightest blue I have ever seen. On the way back we were talking to Taylor about the Mantas and he said he would get us out the same evening. And if a secluded snorkel spot and spinner dolphins wasn’t enough the manta rays were absolutely incredible and the crew was fantastic. They were very informative and passionate about protecting the Manta Rays and making sure everyone was safe. They are professional and made everyone feel comfortable in the water. By far the coolest experience on the Big Island. I was skeptical at first but these guys are pros. I definitely recommend going on an adventure with Ocean Encounters while you are in Kona.

The crew was great the snorkeling was great but you can’t control the behavior of fellow guests and we had some really rude ones who were fun suckers. It is a smallish boat and some guests were less accommodating of fellow passengers enjoyment. Our grandson enjoyed every minute of the time allocated for each snorkeling stop. I wish I could share pictures but the site wouldn’t accept them. It was quite a beautiful day.
