The guide, Mikhail, was a very attentive and informative companion throughout the whole tour, particularly vigilant about precautions on the slippery winter day. He provided encyclopedic but simultaneously entertaining information on the diverse flora and fauna of the Finnish taiga, giving spontaneous and vivid examples on-site. In addition, he offered invaluable advice on how to make the most of my three-day Helsinki transport ticket, which I bought beforehand. Thanks to his guidance, I explored the historic fortresses on the Suomenlinna islands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in zone A of Helsinki, on another weekend day. The tour itself, though on the pricier side, was worth every penny (a Euro cent to be precise). The enchanting snowy landscape of the Finnish boreal forest, featuring signs of glaciation, the evergreen trees like spruces and pines, and of course the national Finnish tree—a birch—coupled with the pure air, attested by the presence of lichens, made for a truly magical and unforgettable experience. The numerous frozen lakes, where one could witness Finnish families sledding their kids, added even more charm to the hike, picturing the beauty of the simple happiness in the life of the locals in this beautiful snow-covered landscape.

Mikhail (sorry if I misspelled) is a great guide. Relaxed, friendly and easygoing, just as the tour. He knows a lot about Finnish nature which was great for us. If you want a relaxed walk, you can safely book this.
