    We begin at historic Pearl Harbor where you will experience firsthand the earth-shattering events that catapulted the U.S. into World War II. Join us at the USS Arizona Memorial, a deeply moving and emotional experience where you will learn about the 1,177 seamen who perished when their battleship was sunk during the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. You’ll witness the attack in a 23-minute documentary and then cross the harbor to the Memorial in a Navy vessel. At the Memorial, pay your respects to the heroes whose names are etched in marble in the Shrine Room. Look into the water and note the oil droplets – “The Black Tears of the Arizona” – that continue to escape the sunken battleship and rise to the harbor surface. Back at Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, there will be time to visit the WWII museum exhibits and the bookshop.

    At the Dole Plantation you can visit the Dole Plantation Store. Our tour guide was Anthony. He set the tone for the tour with how he connected with passengers and making sure no passenger was “left behind.” His knowledge of the history of the island and explaining the tours beforehand made was exciting and interested. He answered all of the passengers questions and provided history for same. Anthony was very thorough in providing all safety and precautions for passengers.

Our tour was incredible and our tour guide, Ric, was awesome. Not only did he take us to our various destinations but he also had a few surprise attractions for us along the way. His knowledge of history and cultural heritage was enlightening. Should we ever tour again in Hawaii, not only will I book with Aloha Sunshine Tours, I will ask for RIC as a guide.

Johnny Alapai was a spectacular guide, one of the funniest and informative people I have ever met and was absolutely wonderful to everyone on the tour. I will definitely bring others in hope we can get him again.
