We really enjoyed this tour! There is a lot of driving from Mexico City (about 4 hours one way) but it was worth it for us. I do think the description isn’t as detailed so I’ll give an itinerary with my tips.
You drive about 2 hours then stop at a hotel for a breakfast buffet. We enjoyed it but if you’re a picky eater you might not like the options. The buffet does NOT come with your ticket. It’s about $11 USD per person.
You drive another 1.5 hours and stop at a shop where you can buy water shoes, towels etc. There’s a toilet available for use but bring your own tissue and there might not be water.
You get to the park and spend about 2 hours in the hot springs pool. There are no towels at the park. You can rent them from tour company or air drive. The bathrooms in the park also do not have tissue. Next you spend about another 1-2 hours in the caves. Surprisingly this was by far the best part of the trip. Bring a phone cover if you’re scared of your phone getting wet. Finally you spend another hour at the river that’s very relaxing and there’s restaurants to eat. You spend about 40 min eating.
Again, we really enjoyed our experience but I can see why some people feel like having an 8 hour drive (round trip) might not be worth it. One last tip! Bring $5-$7 pesos for the bathroom. If you go at a gas station then you have to pay. Overall I think if it’s your first time in Mexico City, then this trip is worth it.
