    The vast Temple of Hatshepsut (at Deir el-Bahari) rivals the Pyramids as one of the great funerary monuments of the ancient world. Built into the towering cliff face which shelter the Valley of the Kings on the other side, it rises on three enormous terraces connected by ramps, each level marked with a colonnade of stark, largely unadorned square pillars.Its namesake was one of the few female pharaohs of ancient Egypt, who not unfairly called her monument “Splendor of Splendors”. However, much of the construction dated from earlier rulers, starting with Mentuhotep II in 2050 BC.     Its modern Arabic name is Kom el-Hatan but the Colossi of Memnon is better known for its Roman name, the Temple of Memnon. A hero of the Trojan War, Memnon was a king of Ethiopia who traveled with his army from Africa to Asia Minor to help defend the beleaguered city under attack but it was slain by the Achilles. Memnon’s name whose means the steadfast or resolute, was the son of Eos, known for being the goddess of dawn. Memnon was associated with the Colossi many years after its construction due to the cry at the dawn of the northern statue also known as the “Vocal Memnon.” Memnon’s eventually became known as the “Ruler of the West.”

The ride was okay. It was a full bus so allot of boos but that's expectable. The tourguide could've let us know how long the trip was going to be but didn't have any information during the whole trip. I thought this was very anoying. The tour guide was a real egyptologist that was very nice. Abdul is very knowledgeable and made the trip worth every penny. He could read the hieroglyphics because he studied them for over 14 years. He was very nice and had allot of information you wouldn't otherwise get. Also because he is an egyptologist we got acces to many sites that were otherwise not accessible for the normal tourist. Very very nice!! Only thing that was not in the description was the boat tour wich had nothing to do with the trip. It would've made more sense to cancel that and have more time at the temples. Otherwise a great trip and we learned allot. Thanks Abdul you are a great guy and made trip worth every penny. Keep up the good work. A trip me and my wife will never forget. Abduuuuullllllll!!!!!

Journée géniale le guide hyper marrant est attentionné vers nous . Plein de beau souvenir en tête. Bémol le trajet qui est long est siège pas confortable

Super journée à la découverte de la région de Louxor. Le programme est très serré alors il faut courrir (on aimerait passer plus de temps dans chacun des endroits.) mais effectivement, on n'a pas le choix tellement, la journée est riche. Pour nous, le départ était à 5h, en bus confortable jusqu'à Luxor. On récupère le guide francophone pour découvrir le temple de Karnak, ensuite traversé de la ville et du souk de Luxor (en carriole à cheval pour nous moyennant un supplément). Traversé du Nil en bateau pour rejoindre le restaurant (compris dans le prix et bon). Direction du Temple funéraire d'Hatchepsout, impressionnant au pied des falaises, visites d'une fabrique d'alabastre, puis la vallée des Rois où l'on a visité trois magnifiques tombes de Pharaons. Les colosses de Memmon. Pour finir, on a fait une croisière sur le Nil avec buffet de fruit jusqu'à une île cultivés (bananeraie principalement) c'est très bien à faire, malgré le supplément tarifièrent, car on peut apprécier la végétation luxuriantes grâce au fleuve quand le reste de ce que nous avons vu et tellement désertique. Le guide est très sympa, intéressant et avec les autres guides nous organisent une très riche journée. À 21 h 30, nous étions de retour à notre hôtel de Hurghada.
