The geothermal energy exhibition provides an amazing opportunity for guests to learn more about how the famous Icelandic sustainable energy is produced. Guests will also learn about our partnership with Carbfix, one of the leading solutions for the climate crisis through CO2 storage. The power plant is one of the largest single-site geothermal plants in the world, and is located in a beautiful area surrounded by mountains and lava. There are several locations inside the exhibition for visitors to view stunning Icelandic landscapes year-round while enjoying a cup of coffee or other light refreshments (available to purchase on-site). This is a perfect first stop along the route to the southern region of the country, and there are excellent hiking paths nearby. This entry ticket is for a self-guided audio tour, available as an app to download onto your smart phone. Please note: the start time you select has flexibility, so if you need to adjust the time please contact us after booking.

Not sure why this place isn’t more popular. The museum has a beautiful modern facility and well laid out. Lots of new interesting information explaining how geothermal energy works. It can be a bit hard to understand at first but when they reintroduce the concepts to you in many ways including short films, stimulations, graphs and diagrams, timelines, and more it makes a lot more sense. The free tour from an app is well done and the museum has numbers associated with the recording numbers to keep it easy. The second floors film about carbon capturing also demonstrated a very interesting solution. You can also see the geothermal plant right outside to see how what you learned and the diagrams are used in real life. All in all, very educational and well thought out.

Dieser Ort ist eine einmalige Chance mehr über echte Geothermalkraftnutzung zu erfahren und gleichzeitig über das System des CO2 Staubsaugers zu lernen. Das sogenannte Carbfix System holt CO2 aus der Luft, bindet dieses in unterirdischem Gestein, reinigt also um es so simpel wie möglich zu beschreiben. Der Blick ins Kraftwerk war spannend, der erklärende Kurzfim ebenso.
