This was our "splash out" item for our stay in Iceland and it didn't disappoint, our guide was Birkir and he was fantastic. He'd spent the weekend rounding up his "sheeps" from the highlands. The drive to get to the lava field took just under an hour but he was explaining things all the way. We changed into our studded boots and put on hats. Make sure you have thick socks as this was the part that got cold. Waterproof gloves are useful because there are puddles on the ice in places and some crawling. There were 6 in our group so a nice number.
