Bandra became a part of Mumbai only in 1950. Prior to that, it was a separate municipality, and before that, till the mid-19th century, a separate island. In the 16th century, the North Konkan coast came under the control of the Portuguese and Franciscan and Jesuit missionaries began to forcibly convert the population to Christianity.When the Portuguese handed over the seven islands of Bombay to the British, Bandra was not part of the deal. And so, Bandra has a slightly different history from Bombay, and that has a part to play in Bandra retaining its Indo-Portuguese Roman Catholic character in spite of wide-scale development. So I actually did Bandra Bling, which is a jeep ride thorifg the Christmassy part of Bandra in the week leading to the new year. Shormishtha was a lovely guide and Javed was an excellent jeep driver. So glad I could take my family for this! Highly recommend it for next year!

BandraBreeze with open Jeep tour was in every aspect an excellent experience. Our guide, Joshi, shared with us his deep knowledge of Bandra's history. He showed us several small villages in the area while providing interesting insights. The tour was both fun and very informative. We warmly recommend Joshi and Khaki tour.

This is a must do so for people from Mumbai and of course tourist I am a native mumbai kar and with this tour I learnt so much more about Bandra small things about this beautiful place that one could never imagine and also the major history of Bandra . Shormistha our guide is a amazing person full of life and so enthusiastic she made the tour more fun and learning more easy…Thankyou Shormistha .The drive was amazing and thanks to the driver as well … over all a perfect evening thanks Khali tours … Looking forward for more tours with you during my next trip
