Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India Built in the 14th Century: Firoz Shah Kotla was the royal citadel of the city and as such it has some important buildings. It was very grand and opulent in its era. Today None of the costly stones and gilded and painted features exist today which used to adorn this fort. Building materials were plundered from here in later centuries for construction work for the cities to the south (Dinpanah and Shergarh) and to the north (Shahjahanabad). Ironically, material for the construction of Firozabad itself had come from some older cities like Siri, Jahanpanah and Lal Kot. Highlight of the fort is an "Ashokan Pillar" which was uprooted from its original location and implanted here for augumenting the beuty of the fort. 30 minutes
