The city is also home to the famed Mysuru silk and a visit to the silk factory reveals the work that goes into turning silk threads into silk sarees. Chamundi hill is home to the mother deity of Mysuru- Chamundeshwari, and apart from paying obeisance to her, we also get a panoramic view of the city from this hill top. The vibrant and colourful Devaraj Urs market is a delight to stroll through with spices, incense sticks and flowers on display. A visit to the silk cocoon market in Ramanagar and wooden toy factory at Channapatana offers an insight into the small scale industries that thrive in this region. This trip was customized for us by the tour company. Our guide and vehicle arrived promptly at 6:50 AM to pick us up from our hotel. She had a wonderful driver Anand navigating the traffic of Bengaluru & Mysuru and we proceeded to the Silk market. Next we were treated to a real Kannada breakfast at Karavali. We had a guided tour at Keshava temple and Tipu’s garden. Our yummy lunch stop was at an Organic place named Dhatu. We finished our trip in Mysuru by walking the halls of the palace & driving up Chamundi Hill. Words cannot express our gratitude to Theja our beautiful young guide. She is compassionate, enthusiastic, brilliant and most of all honest. There was no hidden agenda and we enjoyed the history and background information she had carefully researched for us. What an amazing experience it was. Thank you for accommodating our wishes and working with us . This tour company works with the customer and the locals to promote honest, ethical and enjoyable travel experience.

Mysore palace is the very first priority of any tourist visiting mysore. So we also went to there first. excellent monument. its a must visit place. very fine architectural details can be seen there. There is an awesome rose garden outside. The night view of the palace with full illuminations was a real wonder.

I had a wonderful day trip to Mysore. My host, Archana, a very experienced friendly guide took care about every detail. She arranged even the meeting with my hotel driver in Saturday nights busy Bangalore downtown area. She shared a lot of information, rich also due to her family and intercultural background. I got insights in Mysore‘s silk industry, we had interesting conversations during our stops in very nice selected restaurants. The Palast visit was a unique experience. I strongly recommend this tour if you have only one day to get to know Mysore.
