At midday, embark on a speedboat to explore the Komodo National Park. Start the journey to explore Rinca Island to see Komodo Lizard Dragon at their natural habitat followed by another hike to the top of Kelor Island and snorkelling to observe the beauty of marine life near Majerite Island and end with fabulous sunset at Kalong Island while seeing flying foxes fly away from their nest for food hunt at the night. Nice mix of activities (water-based, hiking, snorkelling, etc.) I love bats so very much enjoyed watching the fruit bats at sunset. All facilitated by a friendly and punctual crew.

Happy in retrospect to have done a half day with a kid in tow. Pick up was at 11.30 and ended at 7 Pm. We did 2 snorkelings, Rinca Island trek to see the Komodo dragons and a final Bat sighting at Kalong island. It was sufficient for a good sight seeing experience. We were also in a speed boat so you’re halving the travel time. The speedboat was new, clean and there’s a toilet onboard. Lunch and pick up at your hotel are provided. I have read reviews that Komodo Island is too commercialised and overrun. Rinca was a good call as it’s still very much in its natural setting, Less touting. We were lucky to have spotted 6 dragons. 5 feasted a poor water buffalo which was a rare sight as they eat once a month. It was all very professional, efficient and friendly service. My 9 year old son was safe and thoroughly enjoyed it! We ran out of batteries by 7 PM so half day was a great idea.

Was good to be on a smaller boat and not jet around too many islands. We had one stop to do some snorkeling and hiking, saw the Drangons on Rinca and an amazing sunset with swarming bats. Well rounded day that was relaxed.
