インドの歴史的建造物を初めて拝見しました。 ローカルの人々にも観光地のようで、沢山の人、遠足の子ども達がいました。 規模的に決して大きなものではないですが、17世紀の想いに身を馳せることができると思います。 熱心に説明してくれるコンダクターもいいですが、もう少し自由に見てもいい時間を設けてくれても、と思いました。 途中で織物工場にも連れて行ってもらい、現地の村の現場を体験することもできましたが、特に欲しい生地がなく。。。。 全体的には、少し高いかな、と感じますが、現地にもお金が還元するような仕組みを作ってアピールしてもらえれば満足感はあるのかな、と思います。

The distance between Indore and Maheshwar is approximately 75 km. There are two routes and both are good and you will take one hour forty five minutes to two hours. The route through Jam Gate is picturesque through Ghats. Maheshwar is famous for Narmada Ghats, temples and ofcourse Maheshwari sarees. You can plan to spend about two hours plus if you are not on a religious tour. Plan to visit during Nov to Feb.

Its a very simple old style travelling. No booking etc. required. Just catch a bus for Maheshwar from the Sarvate Bus stand at Indore, adjacent to the Railway Station . Most buses give a decent ride and in 2 to 2 1/2 hours you reach the Maheshwar bus stop in less than Rs. 200/-. Buses are available from 8:15 am and last bus from Maheshwar to Indore is around 7:15pm. A walk of less than half an hour from the bus stop takes you to the Maheshwar fort, which is at a slight elevation.
