Escape the city, and taste the fresh air in the wilderness of the Connemara National Park. En route to and from the National Park, your driver/guide will give you a detailed insight into the region. They will tell you all about the traditional music, the local language and strong culture that still thrives in this wild part of Ireland. At the National Park, you will have two hours to explore the area and take in a hike. You can also visit the welcome center which has tea rooms, picnic and toilet facilities.

Our guide Michael regaled us with stories of the small towns we passed through as he expertly drove us from Galway to Connemara National Park. We stopped at various spots along this scenic day trip for pictures. Stopping in one quaint tiny town for a bathroom visit and shop local. This has been the highlight of my trip to Ireland!

Michael, our guide, is an excellent driver, historian and humorist. He expertly navigated the roads taking to stops for pictures. On to small village stop for bathrooms and local shops. Those stopping at Kylemore Abbey enjoyed their visit. Whilst I had the opportunity to hike at Connemara National Park. Michael entertained us with stories while we were on the bus. Some of us began this daytrip as strangers ending the day as friends through the weaving of stories and kinship from our lovely guide Michael. I highly recommend this tour, the scenery is magnificent!

After a very good tour with Lally Tours to Cliffs of Moher the day before, we decided to shake up our itinerary and join their Connemara tour as well. Michael, our driver, provided lots of information along the way about the towns, villages and landscapes that we passed, and gave us a good number of photo stops. On Michael's suggestion, we collectively decided to ditch the 30 minute stop in An Spideal and instead have that extra time at our main stops. Of the 15 passengers, 12 were dropped off at Kylemore Abbey, before we continued on to Connemara National Park Visitor's Centre. My wife and I hiked up the red route to about halfway between the blue/red route divergence and the peak before turning back to complete the blue route loop. Though we had been promised rain and gale, the weather turned out much better than we had hoped, and we hiked mostly in sunlight and a breeze despite being in the tail end of October. We loved it, and would go again without hesitation!
