The land, the people, the food, the history - all together made it the best choice to celebrate a 50th birthday reunion with university friends. People were polite and didn't bother tourists. Night life was good in Istanbul. I also loved the way the people were considerate with the stray dogs and cats and looked after them. So glad I also got to go on the balloon ride even in November. Didn't do it in Cappadocia but in Pammukule due to more favourable weather. The history is fascinating. I also like the fact that there is a sense of respect for traditional values and embracing western values in a healthy way. That's why people from all over the world can be seen visiting Turkey. The land is so large. You can't finish seeing Turkey in 10 days! But make the best of what you have. We travelled to Cappadocia, Antalya, Pammukule, Ephesus and Istanbul. One thing to remember is to always tip your guides, drivers and porters. Keep money aside for that. No standard rates, just agreed as a group. If we had more time, we would learn to use the trams and buses. But maybe another time. This was our first time and we had a great time.
