Learn how to make your own shibori scarf in Japan during a 30- to 60-minute class. Shibori art pieces, tools, and samples are displayed at the Kyoto Shibori Museum, which you can explore while your piece dries. In the museum shop, admire a variety of original items, souvenirs, and fabrics. Select a morning or afternoon time when booking.

If you like crafts and to learn more about traditional techniques this is an excellent activity. You are guided through the process by artisans and then while they dry and fold your scarf you can visit the attached museum where there are examples of the artisans skills. This is a traditional technique that has been used in this area for hundreds of years. It is still used today to make kimono.

A wonderful workshop filled with fun as you create unique scarfs for you to enjoy! The hosts were excellent with communiticating, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. It was so interesting and amazing seeing the history and skill of this profession and viewing the beautiful creations afterwards! A must do while in Kyoto.

This was a truly great experience! The staff at the museum walked us through every step of the scarf-making process and made sure we knew what we were doing and why. After, we got to learn more about shibori and its history, as well as how the craft is now. It truly felt like a VIP experience, and we got beautiful scarves to take home as well. I can't recommend this enough.
