    This majestic volcano, in thousands of years of activity, has shaped the land and created a disquieting and evocative environment. Tormented landscapes of savage beauty await the visitor and the views from the top of the mountain span from one end to the other the gulf of Naples giving rise to unforgettable memories. The traveler can be driven by car to a height of one thousand meters and will have to like the rest of the way where vehicles are not allowed. It is a twenty-thirty minutes walk on a dirt path which leads right to the edge of the crater. An incredible experience to be able to peep inside the mouth of a live volcano. Our family of five had an unforgettable experience with Carmine touring Pompeii, Vesuvius and Sorrento. He greeted us promptly at the Port in Naples and drove to Mt. Vesuvius, arriving as soon as it opened to avoid the heat. In Pompeii, he arranged for a knowledgeable guide that knew how to purchase tickets quickly and see the most important areas of Pompeii. The view to Sorrento was amazing and Carmine knew a perfect stop to eat gelato, walk the narrow, cobblestone streets and sit on a bench by the water and view the beautiful scenery. I highly recommend Carmine as a tourist driver.
