Enjoy water sports at Varadero, get relax at Cuachalalate and enjoy some snorkeling time in the ocean´s tranquil waters of Coral. The island´s sheltered beaches are perfect for sitting back, basking in the sun, and soaking up amazing views.

This was not a trip to Ixtapa Island. Snorkeling was not included. When I asked our guide about it, he had no idea what happened. The other couples with us were also sold a trip to Ixtapa Island, but were told it was changed to Las Gatas beach because of a storm. We were over charged and over sold.

Weren’t able to go to Ixtapa because of high ocean swells, so went to Los Gratas instead. It was wonderful to immerse in the local culture on a holiday weekend. Victor is a great guide, very knowledgeable.

We paid $25 usd each for our trip to ixtapa island. We took this same tour last year and boy there are changes. You get picked up from your hotel taken to the boats = the people putting you on and off the boats are asking for propinas or tips usually a few coins, not too bad , but it is both ways. Then we get to the island and say we would like to snorkel = we had our own gear but had to pay a snorkeling guide another 130 pesos per person.to go in with him. We finished snorkeling and went back to the restaurant that had lunch for us (included in the cost) then the server requests a tip, we gave 50 pesos for us two - there was a family on our tour that only tipped 20 pesos and the server showed us how unhappy he was with that. Then we get back to the hotel and tip the tour lady that took us (100 pesos). I was quite disappointed that after paying for a tour that everybody had their hand out. It is good to know up front that this is expected because I was not going to bring extra cash but did in case my hubby wanted extra drinks - which he did - and we tipped on each order. Be aware.
