Enjoy a dreamy day trip to the tranquil district of Arashiyama, home to famous Bamboo Grove and some very cheeky monkeys! Visit some of the temples and explore the riverbanks around the Togetsukyo Bridge. Venture to the well-preserved, Saga-Toriimoto Street and smaller sites like Gioji. Sample an authentic meal at a neighborhood eatery - we find that lunch always seems to roll around eventually. Within 24 hours after booking you'll receive a short questionnaire about your personality and interests. Based on your responses, you'll be assigned a like-minded host. Your host will communicate with you directly to suggest an itinerary to help you discover what makes the city unique. You will also agree on a meeting time and place. Your itinerary is flexible, so during the experience, you can always change your mind about what you want to do.

This is touted as an amazing place, and it might be. But it wasn’t. The very small stretch of bamboo curving above you is ruined by the mass of humanity trudging along the path, ruining any sense of atmosphere. Most of the people were gaining most of their pleasure at the food and souvenir stalls… I know, I know - I was one of them! So I should act all superior. But in all honesty, it was disappointing, and not worth half a day out of my time in Kyoto to go there.

トロッコ列車を下車し、大河内山荘から天龍寺を目指しました。途中は竹林。時は春3月末、桜が満開で晴れ。上を見上げると青空、笹の葉はうす黄緑色で、風に優しく揺れ、日の光が透き通って見えます。結婚式の前撮りをするカップルもいて、絵になる美しい光景でした。

Dairyn was amazing! She knew my family was on a time crunch and made every effort to show us the most in the amount of time we had, all while giving time to my kids to appreciate the experience. She had wonderful suggestions for places the kids would enjoy and had ideas for food options for our vegetarian family. We would definitely look her up again when we visit Kyoto. 10/10 experience for our family.
