Samurai and Kyoto have always been associated throughout history. From the early Heian period to the collapse of the Tokugawa shogunate the samurai and ninja always roamed the streets of Kyoto. Now they are back! The samurai and ninja museum brings back the history and helps you to have a glimpse of these heroes’ glorious lives. What is more, you can have a hands on experience including wearing a real samurai armor, taking a katana lesson, doing a shuriken (ninja star) throw and using a ninja fukiya all in one place, all included in the tour.

Good informative guide and a bit of laugh with the interactive ninja spike throwing. Have to walk to another place maybe 5mins away to dress up and take pics,again good fun.

I'd say it's ok-ish for elementary school kids, pretty much not really worth the peice and time otherwise. There is a short intro where they tell you some basic staff about samurai history and swords and armours, and even though our guide, Kai, was engaging and very nice, it still felt that they could have done a lot more. The dressing up was rushed and I have to say that we don't have a single nice photo as the girl who was taking them was just clicking away without helping with positions, framing etc. Better spend the money in sushi

The presentation was informative but they packed the guests like sardines so it was hard to see the exhibits and sometimes hard to understand the host. Also the experience I paid for was to dress up as a Samurai and throw Ninja darts; the latter didn’t happen. The host just all of a sudden left us at the Samurai dress up space which was at a separate location. We had to look for her at the main location.
