Then sample this traditional Japanese dish and even have a go at preparing it yourself! The soba-making workshop is an opportunity to get more than just the literal bite of this tradition. Step into the shoes of an apprentice and learn from an experienced soba master! Discover all the basics and learn how to use authentic soba-making tools. The activity is divided into two stages and it’s completely hands-on from start to finish. The best part is you get to eat your own noodles at the end! We had a wonderful time on our Matsumoto Castle Tour & Soba Noodle Experience. We met our guides Kay~san and Naomi~san at the Matsumoto Train station at exactly on time. We walked by a few interesting temples and sights on the way to the castle. Kay and Naomi told us interesting facts about the town and it's sights. We were able to skip the line entering the castle with the tour tickets. We very much enjoyed the soba making experience and lunch afterwards. I definitely recommend this tour and I especially enjoyed our wonderful guides.

This tour was my favorite experience during my stay in Japan! The guides were incredible and very informative. Great pacing and willing to answer all questions about Japan. Soba making classes were so much fun and very relaxed. I plan to come back and tour with Welcome Matsumoto every time I’m in Japan!!

It was more than a ton of fun making soba from scratch and realising how easy it is to do at home. The tasting of our own noodles was a treat, accompanied by tempura and tea as extras. So close to the castle, it makes for a nice break in the touring around this beautiful city.
