    The head temple of all provincial Buddhist temples. The main hall, the Daibutsuden houses one of Japan's largest bronze statues of Buddha (Daibutsu), 15 meters tall. Another popular attraction is a pillar with a hole in its base that is the same size as the Daibutsu's nostril. The lanterns are only lit twice a year during two Lantern Festivals (February and August). We had a marvellous day in Nara, going around and seeing all the sights and also the deers. Picture perfect. We are also grateful and thankful for our guide Marcelo for an amazing tour.

Our guide Miki was wonderful! She took us through a number of sites, explaining cultural and historical significance of each site. She reached out well in advance of our tour to confirm if we had any dietary restrictions (which we did), our budget for lunch, and our desired method of travel. Once everything was arranged, she met us promptly at the meeting time and patiently guided us through the rail system until we arrived in Nara. Once we arrived, she had arranged for two taxis to take us to the Ryoukan where we ate lunch. The scenery was picturesque and the food was delicious as well! She navigated us through the must-sees of Nara, including the Todaiji Temple, Nara Deer Park, and the Kasuga Shrine with ease. She engaged with our children to make sure they had a great time as well.

Our tour guide Riley did a great job of selecting some of the highlights for Nara Park for us. He meet us at the Osaka Train station and guided us through the journey out to Nara. Then picked a set of both temples and museums to view at a page that was perfect for the two senior citizens that we had in our group. He also then helped my family with some language interpreting that we needed to purchase some dress kimono items. Finally, he guided us back to Osaka. Overall, I highly recommend the trip to Nara and would recommend Riley as a great guide for a laid back adventure tailored to your needs.
