  • A maximum of 2 adults per rickshaw. Up to 2 children (age 5 years or under) can ride with 2 adults (children have to ride on an adult's lap)
  • While rickshaws are able to fit two adults, each rickshaw is 29.1 inches (74 centimeters) wide, and it is sometimes more comfortable to book individual rickshaws for each passenger. For passengers of size, we recommend booking a rickshaw for each participant to ensure a comfortable ride. Passengers who do not both fit in one rickshaw but wish to participate in a tour at the same time will be required to purchase an additional rickshaw, which may not be available on the date of the tour with an English-speaking guide if not booked in advance. Those customers who do not purchase an additional rickshaw at the time of booking cannot be guaranteed availability.

  • Selected starting time is not automatically guaranteed. The time will be confirmed by email within 24 hours of booking.

  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

On 12 February 2025, I took a day trip to Otaru city. With the cold and snow, I decided to hop on a rickshaw tour. I went for a 45 minute ride that costs 13,000 YEN (USD 85). My rickshaw driver, Mr. Taichi Ui, showed me around and explained things in simple English (though it was a bit tricky to hear him at times while he was driving). He also helped me take some cool photos at various stops. If you want to avoid too much walking, this is a another way to see the city!

He taught me a lot about the history of Otaru and I was happy to take a lot of pictures! If you visit Otaru again, I want to go sightseeing on a rickshaw!

初めて人力車に乗りました。朝からどしゃ降りの雨で、娘と濡れながら歩いていた所に声をかけてもらい、始めはどうしようか迷いましたが、乗せてもらって本当に良かったです。 ご自分はビショビショになりながら、私達にはとても丁寧に気を遣って下さり、楽しくお話しをして下さいました。小樽の歴史や建造物のお話も分かりやすく、お店を見て回って美味しい物を食べるだけの観光がグレードアップし、中身の濃い観光になりました。 写真もバッチリのアングル！本当に思い出に残るひと時になりました。 ありがとうございました！Ｓさん、またいつか鎌倉でお会いしましょう（笑）！
