    From Herzl Square and the Great Synagogue we begin the guided walk in the Jewish Quarter, including major landmarks of the city’s World War II ghetto of 1944.
  • Great / Central Synagogue (Nagy Zsinagoga), Budapest, Hungary
    Stop at the Dohány Street Synagogue, also known as the Great Synagogue is a historical building in Erzsébetváros, the 7th district of Budapest, Hungary. It is the largest synagogue in Europe, seating 3,000 people and is a centre of Neolog Judaism. You will discover not only why this synagogue is unique architecturally, but also find out about the fate of Hungarian Jewry at the time of the Second World War, as well as learning how many internationally famous personages were Hungarian Jews.

    Stop at the Moorish Rumbach Sebestyén utca Synagogue was built in 1872 by Austrian Secessionist architect Otto Wagner for the "moderate Conservative" community. The interior decorations shine in their old, graceful light after the long-overdue facelift.     In a small side-street you can find Budapest's Orthodox synagogue. The Orthodox Synagogue was built in 1913 in what was at the time a very modern design. It has late art nouveau touches and is decorated in bright colours throughout. The stained-glass windows in the ceiling were designed by Miksa Róth.

A very excellent tour. The subject is heart wrenching, but in order not to repeat the past mistakes of humanity we must understand and learn from our history. Gabriella gave us her heart and soul in this very interesting and informative tour. The synagogue was beautiful and one of the largest on earth. I highly recommend this tour for all. We walked a ways and took the Budapest mass transit.

This was the WORST experience ever!!! i am demanding a couplete refund. First, the guide was late. Second, we agreed to meet in FRONT of the Budapest Marriott. After waiting and calling, we FINALLY found inside the hotel, way in back. And thirdly, we learned we had to take public transportation, buses and trains to get there. THIS was not anywhere in the information on the tour. The guide was rude, so we told her we did not want to go on this tour. Again, I want a complete refund immediately or I will take up with my card to the refund. Please let me know on this IMMEDIATLY! YOU MAY ALSO CALL ME AT 770-655-9280

I am traveling with my husband and 16 year old son interested in Jewish history. We reserved a 3 hour private tour with Gabriella and it was one of the most amazing informative and nuanced tours we have ever taken. Gabriella is a student of history with immense background by knowledge of the “why” and “how” of history as much as the facts, dates and figures about history. She is personable, funny and intellectual at the same time. All of us walked away feeling we experienced the history we just saw.
