The weather made it tough, but our guide did his absolute best with what he had and made the trip the most memorable experience. We still saw a lot of the animals and had a wonderful experience.

I looked around a lot of day trip tour operators to Pilanesberg out of Johannesburg and settled on Phililipians 4 Four. Very pleased I made this choice. Even though I was the only one booked on the day, the company still ran the trip and I was collected by the excellent driver Nathi at 6.30AM for the 2.5 hour trip to the park. Nathi was excellent company and we had great conversation on the journey to the park. On arrival at around 9.00AM , I was efficiently transferred to an open top safari vehicle ran by Kgabo Safaris. Our driver, Tumi, was very efficient and we immediately began spotting animals. On the drive, we saw, Lions, Elephant, White Rhinos, Giraffe, Hippo, Zebra, Wildebeast, Impala, Waterbuck and a few other antelope. We also saw some great birds including a Secretary Bird, one of my personal favourites. Tumi provided some excellent natural history and ecology updates for the area and the things we were seeing Some of the animals were a little way away, so I would recommend a pair of binoculars to improve your experience and a long lens on your camera. Even top quality phones don't cut it at distance. It was also pretty breezy and a bit chilly on the open vehicle, so bring warm clothes in layers you can remove as necessary. We returned back to the park entrance at 3.00PM and that was after a 1 hour or so stop at a cafe in the park for lunch. You had options for lunch that were included in the price of the trip from Phililipians 4 Four. I had cheesburger and fries and a diet coke. The food was nothing fancy, but filling. I was back at my hotel is Sandon around 6.30PM - a full, but very enjoyable day. A special thank you to Mr Solly, the owner of Phililipians 4 Four for honoring the booking and taking me on the tour, even though I was the only guest on the day. That kind of service and dedication is rare and I really appreciate it. The company is highly recommended. Nathi was also great company and a very interesting individual.
