This fun walking tour covers the fascinating history of Fordsburg, the oldest suburb in Johannesburg. The focus is on street food, and we eat from Indian, Bangladeshi, Syrian, African, Turkish and Pakistani traders – best to come hungry! You will discover all the hidden secrets, meet the traders and lovely people of Fordsburg, and do plenty of shopping! The tour is suitable for vegetarians and people unable to eat spicy food, but not for vegan or lactose intolerant eaters. Please note duration depends on group size and mobility, how much you shop etc. It's a Muslim area, please dress respectfully. No revealing clothes please

Gilda is a brilliant tour guide and generally wonderful human. Gilda's extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and excellent relationship with the local community shines through. Absolutely wonderful tour and of course, the food is amazing. 10/10 would recommend

Gilda was an outstanding and knowledgeable guide. We had a great time wandering around the old parts of Jo'berg. Great variety of wonderful food we sampled. Highly recommend this tour. Suggestion... bring napkins or moist towelettes to clean up between samples.
