Desaru Coast is home to over 100 species of birds. A myriad of winged gems can be found here including White-bellied Sea Eagles, Bhraminy Kites, Black-shouldered Kites, Crested Serpent Eagles, Changeable Hawk-Eagle, Collared Kingfisher, White-throated Kingfishers, Common Kingfishers, Blue-throated Bee-eaters, Blue-tailed Bee-eaters, Blue-winged Pittas, Crimson Sunbirds, Ruby-cheeked Sunbirds, Brown-throated Sunbirds, Red Junglefowl, Purple Heron, Grey Heron, Yellow Bittern, Oriental Pied Hornbills. and many more. Join our naturalist guide as we introduce you to our many winged wonders. The best time to watch these birds is in the relative cool of the morning when these birds are most active. This tour is ideal for both the novice as well as the more experienced birders. A checklist of the birds of Desaru will be made available on tour. We had a really great birdwatching walk around the Anantara Hotel today lead by Shakira. She was very knowledgeable and we managed to see a pair of hornbills, bulbul’s, sun birds, magpie robins, starlings and sparrows. It was fantastic and we would highly recommend it, binoculars were provided. Also stories of working with the flora & fauna of Malaysia.

Our guide, Shakira, was very friendly and knowledgeable. She made walking around the resort vacinity fun, we learned so much about the birds we usually see and added facts about Desaru's wildlife. Very cool.
