Come explore like the locals do! We get out and away from the crowds of town on our boat with the smallest tour size on the island (4 people in a mixed group of guests maximum)! Our boat & kayak tour is for anyone who ever dreamed of seeing the wilds of Alaska from the water. With 3 full hours on the water you will see a range of marine and inter-tidal life. With our comfortable, high speed boat we aren't tied to the waters you can reach from a dock departing kayak tour. We go where the best water and the most wildlife is on every tour. We can’t make any promises on behalf of mother nature but regularly see everything from sea stars, jellyfish, seals, and bald eagles to the occasional humpback whale, black bear, and of course the ever elusive orca! *Max 6 guests upon group request.

  • Weather appropriate outer layer
  • Base layers, please wear something warm and comfortable. At a minimum we suggest 2 layers under our paddle jackets, they are water & windproof but do not provide any insulation. Technical or quick dry materials are best but you’ll have a great time in jeans, sweatshirts, or leggings.
  • A brimmed hat is great for rain or shine.
  • Wear active footwear not big heavy boots.
Departure Point

Traveler pickup is offered

About 10 minutes before departure time you will find us in Ketchikan at Berth 2. We will be holding an Alaska Kayak Company sign beside the Liquid Sunshine (rain) Gauge near the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau. This location can be a 1 to 15 minute walk from your cruise ship depending on where it docks in Ketchikan. If you are docking at the port of Ward Cove you will need to allow time to ride the bus to the meeting location in Ketchikan.

  • We are glad to stow a collapsible wheelchair for guests but it cannot be used on-board.
  • We love to adventure with all levels of paddlers. We teach everything you need to know about having a fun, safe kayaking experience at the start of our trip.

  • If you are traveling via cruise ship please book a departure at least an hour after your arrival and allow yourself roughly an hour to re-board afterwards.

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Overall excellent experience with Alaska Kayak Company. Tim & Mary are a great team! We loved the personal touch with the whole experience. I was able to talk to Tim prior to our arrival. Tim was all smiles when he came to receive us at the designated meeting place. The entire trip was just wonderful after that. We had a very engaging experience with kayaking and some hiking. Tim explained the local flora and sea life, getting us close to nature. They delivered beyond our expectation. Thank you for receiving us and then also dropping us close to our cruise ship.

Mary and Tim provided an exceptional experience. From our time of booking through our meeting on the dock to an outstanding kayaking experience communication was exceptional. Our family group of four adults had what we felt to be a kayaking experience out of Ketchican that could not have been any better. We were lucky to have a rare sunny and warm day in late July. Tim and Mary's knowledge of the local waters, flora and fauna was great. Highly recommend this experience over a more crowded and "corporate" tour.

If you want to have a great water experience with really awesome people then this is the place! Mary and Tim were excellent guides! Very friendly and informative. If we make it back to Ketchikan we would most definitely book with them again!
