What a wonderful sightseeing trip with Hans! Not sure only was he extremely nice and personable, but he was so knowledgeable and insightful! We were traveling as a family of 6, including an 11yo, 4 yo and two 75 yos. Everyone enjoyed the trip! Hans was able to tell the history the adults wanted as well as keep the kids engaged and entertained. We all loved the wildlife and sea life spotting throughout our outing. Hans even documented our entire trip with photos and videos and sent them to us at the end of our time together. If you’re looking for a memorable time in Ketchikan, look no further! Hans and Emerald Forest Tours are the real deal!

If I could give Hans and Bianca at Emerald Tours a 10 out of 5 I would! If you disembark at Ketchikan, you really have to take a tour to see its beautiful nature, otherwise the town itself has limited vista points. Your options are going on one of the bigger tours (trolley’s) or take a more private van tour like Emerald. We first considered one of the larger trolley tours and they were going to stop by one of the waterfalls for ten minutes to take pictures and then take us to a nature preserve. Hans and Bianca not only took us to the waterfall, they lead us all the way to the top through a beautiful trail, where you could see another second, hidden waterfall. We probably spent an hour there instead of ten minutes, where this wonderful couple became our personal photographers so that all eight of us could be in every picture. Hans took great care to help my wife up and down the waterfall trail. Before the waterfall, they had taken us to a nature preserve where we saw eagles catching fish but no bears. On the way back, they took the extra time to take us back to the preserve to give us one more chance to see bears. This time we saw a mother bear with three cubs catch salmon and eagles trying to steal the salmon! Hans and Bianca were not obligated to take us back a second time, but did. Wonderful hosts who really cared and gave us information about Alaska and Ketchikan the whole time. We liked them so much, we parted with hugs. And all at a very reasonable price.

We had a really good time with our guide Hans, he showed us all the wild life we were interested in seeing and told us everything we wanted to know. Also went up a nice hike which was very fun.
