I struggled with the idea of going to a country at war, wanting to avoid any sense of "war tourism". I wanted to see for myself what Russia is doing to Ukraine, a country that didn’t escalate the conflict. Plus, I didn't want to wander outside Kyiv on my own - for safety and as out of respect for the locals. I found Svit through a German newspaper article that convinced me to book his tour. We met up at the planned time, and he spent the whole day showing me around different sites that had been impacted by the war.
