Here at the heart of Sápmi you can become a reindeer herder for a day. You can ride a reindeer sleigh alone in the winter landscape, feed the reindeer and eat delicious food. You are invited to be a part of the real life of the Sámi people. A professional reindeer herder will introduce you to his reindeer herd in his native environment. We are a reindeer herding family in Swedish lapland. We live and operate in the northern Sweden, middle of the Torneträsk-Soppero primeval forest which is located north of Kiruna city. We are an indigenous people in Europe and the Nordic countries. The area that has historically been inhabited by our ancestors for generations is called Sápmi and includes northern part of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Our goal for you is to have a genuine experience with us, in our everyday life.

  • Transfer by minibus: From Kiruna to reindeer corrals ( one and a half hour) / Roundtrip

WE DO NOT PICK UP AT INDIVIDUAL HOTELS OR LOCATIONS! We ONLY pick you up from the SELECTED pick up point on your booking. Be ready for pickup at 8.20 AM in your hotel in Kiruna or in Tourist information Kiruna Swedish Lapland in the foyer or at the exit of the hotel. We pick up between 8.20-8.40 AM depending on which hotel you are at. Pick-up at the Icehotel and Camp Alta about 8.50 AM. We call if there's anything. This was one of my favorite experiences in swedish lapland! Beatrice and Friedrik are the best guides and explained everything about the sami culture and way of life. They are very nice people and so passionate about their lives and the reindeer. The reindeers are SO CUTE and they are nor afraid of people at all, they let you feed them and everything. The sled ride is also amazing. And the food is just superior. Totally recommended!
