Shikaras are rented on an hourly basis from an hour to three or four hours depending on how much time you can spare to see the village lifestyle and Alleppey backwaters. From sunset viewing, bird watching, stargazing, visiting villages and witnessing the everyday life of the farmers and fishermen to seeing the various regions that specialize in the manufacturing of certain products like toddy, coir and unique handicrafts,Alleppey backwaters is one of the most pleasant experiences.
