    Discover India’s Jewish Heritage in Kochi, home to the country’s longest-established Jewish communities. Known as the Malayalam Jews, their history is vague but evidence suggests that the earliest settlers may have arrived in India after the destruction of the Second Temple of Jerusalem in 70 CE. Your tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Kochi. From there, you will visit the city’s most important Synagogues, including Chendamangalam, Paradesi synagogue, Pravur synagogue and Kadvum Bagam synagogue, some of the region’s key places of worship. Visit the Jewish Cemetery and Kochi’s Chinese fishing nets, The tour continues with a captivating 2-hour excursion around the Fort Cochin, before getting dropped off back at your hotel or cruise port

Amazing tour of the Jewish community of Cochin! This tour took us to 4 synagogues with in depth explanations of each. All were stunning. We learned so much. These were among the oldest synagogues we have been able to visit around the world. We spoke at length with the last member and caretaker of the Kadavumbagam Synagogue creating lasting memories. Lijo took us to a nearby shop to have a “Cochin-style “ kippah made for our grandson. He stopped with us to buy dates and spices from small vendors. I highly recommend this tour.

During our visit to Kochi with 3 kids (ages 17, 13 and 8), we booked a tour with Lijo to learn about the Jewish history. It was a full day tour, and yet there is so much to learn and see! Lijo is an excellent guide, very clear and knowledgeable. We traveled with him to four synagogues in the area and heard a lot about the Jewish history. He was very patient with us and allowed time for individual discovery with people we met and spoke to at the synagogue. The kids were cooperative and absorbed information each according to his age, and that’s ok. I highly recommend this tour for anyone, but especially Jews and Israelies will find it very interesting!
