Sunrise Cruise with Village Life and Local Food

What a wonderful serene experience this was with Sanu. Trip started early to watch the sun rising over the beautiful coconut tree lined waterways. We stopped for bananas and a gossip at the “community” spot, then watched and tasted the local “toddy” being drained. I had the chance to make coir rope with another local lady but failed miserably, she was definitely the expert. Trip continued along waterways seeing birds and village life whilst we photographed the scenery. Back at the start we had a traditional breakfast cooked by his mama in the stunning Homestay he has available on Airbnb. Sanu was a perfect host.

We came to know about this activity thru Tripadvisor & decided to book the same based on the reviews posted. We had one of the best ever experience. We were picked early morning from our hotel. We started our ride exactly at the sunrise time in a cosy ,comfortable canoe. The experience of witnessing beautiful sunrise sailing in a private canoe through a backwaters passing thru village witnessing villages early morning chores was a unique experience. We also stopped in between too see Toddy tappers activity. We were also offered a coconut water from the freshly cut coconut from the nearby tree. We also witnessed different houses both old and new ones ,various kind of birds, mangoes, flowers, jackfruits & water lilies during our exciting ride thru narrow village backwaters with the background of music played in nearby temple for the festival in the temple. We were then taken to the other side of the backwaters passing thru the houseboats around to the beautiful lake Vembanad wherein we got a different experience of being in a small Canoe but able to experience the lake so closely touching the water with no major background noise of boat motor. We returned to the beautiful cottage where we were served a home cooked traditional breakfast which was really amazing. We were wondering if we can have similar traditional lunch as well & requested them to suggest the place but they immediately offered us to serve the same at their place & we didn't think twice to say yes. We had a lovely traditional moth watering fish thali lunch as well. Me, My wife & son enjoyed each & every moment we spent there. Sanu & Jesvanth are great host .We enjoyed talking to them & discussing about their other ventures as well which are equally good like Wonderwerk kitchen & homestay little Chembaka. We recommend everyone who wants to have unique experience of backwaters & local food must go for it.
