Departure Point
Kotorska luka, Kotor, Montenegro
Bay of Kotor, Kotor, Montenegro Near a small village called Rose, there are three most impressive Submarine Tunnels which were built by the Yugoslav Army. The outside of the opening is designed and covered by fake rocks so they would not be invisible to satellites or spy planes.
When we say this tunnel is the best hidden sight in Montenegro, we mean it literally. Built during the 1970s by the Yugoslav Navy, this tunnel was designed to stealthily host submarines and small ships. The entrance features a peculiar construction covered with fake rocks designed to make the spot invisible to unsuspecting eyes.
The tunnel is a part of a fascinating and little-known series of similar tunnels and stealth locations built by the Yugoslav Army along the coasts of Montenegro and Croatia. Two smaller tunnels are located nearby, but the one near Rose is the largest, the most interesting to explore, and actually the only one that used to host submarines. 10 minutes
Mamula Fortress, Herceg-Novi, Montenegro The Mamula Fortress was built in 1853. At this time, Montenegro was under Austro-Hungarian rule. The fortress is named after the Austro-Hungarian general, Lazarus von Mamula. who commissioned the construction of the building. Mamula lays between two other fortifications from the same period – fort Arza, Luštica and Cape Ostro on the opposite side.
The spot was chosen for its strategic position at the very entrance to the bay, but the story of Mamula didn’t end there. During both world wars, it was used as a prison due to its isolated position. The location gained a notorious reputation during World World 2, when the army of Benito Mussolini turned it into a concentration camp. Stories of unspeakable horrors can still be heard today.
After this chapter in its history, the island and the fortification remained deserted for many years. Nowadays, Mamula is set to become a tourist resort; a project met with an ambiguous response from the locals due to the gloomy history of the place.
9HFW+JGG, Rt Veslo, Montenegro The Blue Cave is the largest of many sea caves on Lustica Peninsula. It’s called the Blue Cave because the way the light hits the sandy bottom and reflects up through the water makes the whole cave look blue.
It’s very beautiful and it’s a lucky quirk because almost all of the coast here is rocky, not sandy. You can see the blue light shining out of the cave when you approach, but to really see it you’ve got to go inside and get underwater.
Don’t forget your snorkel or goggles when you come here! 30 minutes
Our Lady of the Rocks, Perast, Montenegro Our Lady of the Rocks is one of two gorgeous islands in the Kotor bay which are situated in the sea across Perast. The other island is the Island Sveti Djordje. Our Lady of the Rocks is an artificial island, which according to the stories was made by the seaman from Perast and Kotor, who on their big sail boats brought big stones. There is a church and according to a legend, a fisherman from Perast, after a shipwreck near the island, have found an icon of the Holy Mother of God with the Christ on a sea rock, so as the customs say they vowed to build a church on the island. They have built the church in 1630. As the island had to be maintained, the seaman continued to bring the stones, so that tradition is alive even today. Entrance to the church is free and if you would like to enter the museum - cost per ticket is 2 euros. 30 minutes

This was the best day we ever had. Incredible experience with 3 hours boat tour.we enjoyed a lot . Adrenaline rush at the peak. We went to lady of the rock, submarine tunnel and blue cave. We dived from blue cave with our friends which was wonderful experience. The driver BALSA was so friendly and polite. We didn't felt him as a stranger. He was like our friend throughout the tour. Very highly recommended tour.

Very enjoyable trip by speedboat. Luckily, we chose a safe and reputable company (our boat was the Golden Wave, and the driver was Bojan). We booked with Jelena, whose office is next to Niente cafe ice-cream Bubble Tea in Kotor. Not all companies follow the correct health and safety procedures as we saw when visiting the Blue Cave! Would highly recommend booking with this company. Thank you Jelena and Bojan ????

We absolutely loved our tour and had a great time! Jelena was very helpful when we were picking out our tour and we decided on a private three hour morning tour. This was perfect for our group of four and we were able to miss some of the crowds by taking the first tour time out of Kotor. Vanya, our captain, was friendly and explained the history and landmarks we were seeing. Would highly recommend this tour - seeing the beautiful boka bay from the water and swimming outside the blue cave was an unforgettable experience.
