Auschwitz & Birkenau Small Group Live Guided Tour with Hotel Pick Up Transport

This was an overall great experience! Thankful for the excellent driver of our 20 or so people to and from the site to Krakow. The only thing that was unknown upon booking was the exact time and location for pickup, but this was communicated via email or Whatsapp the afternoon prior. We booked a 0600 pick-up time and found out that the pickup at closer to noon, with a 1430 tour start time at the site. The first part of the tour went until about 1610, then we transitioned via the same bus to the 2nd site, were guided for 1 more hours there, then driven back to our original pickup location. Overall it was right on target for about a 7 hour total duration, which felt about right. Highly recommend versus attempting to book directly through the museum, which proved nearly impossible.

I’m kicking myself as I always research trips, restaurants etc before I travel. This time unfortunately due to a heavy work load I just jumped in and booked a trip to Auschwitz, I purchased through trip advisor what could go wrong ??. I booked the AUSCHWITZ BIRKENAU GUIDED TOUR WITH HOTEL PICK UP SMALL MINI BUS MAX 12 PEOPLE AND ENGLISH SPEAKING GUIDE FOR A 08:10am PICK UP only to be told by text at 16:40 the evening before (sat on the runway at Manchester) that due to guide shortages the pick up time was now 03:10 ??? We spent a while discussing the logistics of this but thought maybe it can’t be helped?? 10 minutes later I receive another text that now says due to our hotels proximity (home hotel in the Jewish quarter) a minibus can’t drive there we will have to go to another location 20+ minutes walk away ????and they can’t pick up at the hotel. We worked out by the time we got to our hotel and checked in it would be about 10pm. We hadn’t eaten so had planned on getting a quick bite to eat when we arrived. Which would leave us with less than 3 hours sleep if we were lucky. We realised this was totally unfeasible so asked for a refund only to be told no refunds if cancelled less than 24 hrs before trip, you are told your ridiculous pick up time and miles away collection location 12 hrs before??? I then decided to google company Gr8 way tours to find this is what they do all the time to stay clear and it’s all a big scam, wish I’d read this all before and I can’t believe trip advisor continue to sell the tours knowing full well it’s a big scam. 05:30 pick up I could cope with but 03:10 is a piss take. Essentially this is a very expensive bus trip, with no auschwitz entry tickets no hotel pick up no 12 seater mini BUS with English guide. Any idea what course of action I can take to reclaim my money ?? I have kept screenshots of all the messages to back this up. Currently getting nowhere with trip advisor, have got a dispute in with the bank though ?
