Auschwitz, a camp of terror, genocide and the Holocaust, was  estabilished in 1940 by Nazis. Located in the suburbs of Oswiecim – at that time a part of Third Reich. Probably it was the largest place of genocide, where almost 1.5 milion people lost life. In 2016 over 2 milion people visited Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum from around the world. They walked through the entrance, “Gate of Death” – the same walk as prisoners did over 70 years ago.

Our driver and guide Jacob was outstanding. Thoughtful, kind, and knowledgeable, he was very accommodating. The experience at Auschwitz- Birkenau was personal and emotional for me as I lost many of my father’s family there and had two survivors. Jacob drove us to a quiet part of Birkenau where two railroad cars that took Jews to certain death are still standing on the tracks. Jacob left me alone with the cars so that I could make some form of peace with the horrors that happened there. In retrospect, an Auschwitz visit can be transformative and reminds us of what should never happen again.

The whole trip was so well organised and ran smoothly. It was a very sobering day but something I think everyone should do then maybe we’d all be a bit kinder to one another. Jacob our driver was excellent and very informative. The drive there gave us the opportunity to see the polish countryside

From the start to the end, the entire experience was very good. We had great private transportation. Jacob did a wonderful job to and from the site explaining what we were looked at during the drive. The tour guide we had was very y good as well, explaining to us the horrors of this site.
