Pickup was much earlier than expected (6 am) and arrived at the busiest time for museum entry. The queues were very long compared to when we left. I felt that a later tour entry would have made for a better experience. Tour guide was knowledgeable but was sometimes hard to understand/spoke fast.
The museum tour was well organized but they really push you through quickly. I didn't feel like I had adequate time to really absorb the historical and emotional importance of the site as we were rushed from place to place. I would still recommend this experience to anyone and everyone, lest history repeat itself.
Remember that this is not only a museum, but a memorial. Dress appropriately. It was nice to see so many people respectfully wearing black, but also saw many tourists in jean shorts, etc. No selfies allowed. It was disheartening to see so many tourists happily posing for pictures with Birkenau in the background. This is the site of mass murder, not Bali. Be respectful.
