Picked up promptly from apt, lovely driver. Tour was emotional and informative must do trip for anyone visiting krakow. Matt our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate.

What an experience, really recommended doing this, we did the English walking tour. Learnt so much history this day. Unbelievably sad.

We took the tour from our hotel and the journey took about an hour from our hotel in the centre of Kraków. Had little idea what to expect and agree with previous posts about the volume of people and lack of appropriate facilities although this seems a little insensitive when faced with the horrors we learned about what the prisoners had to face whilst they were there. The commentary was informative if a little rushed although this was understandable due to the sheer volume of visitors. We first visited Auschwitz 1 and the tour was sensitive but lacked time for reflection to the horrors that were being described. The most moving part I found was the photos displayed of some of the victims, with their haunted looks and their occupations, date of entry to the camp and then their demise sometimes only weeks later. The second part of the tour moved to Birkenau which was on a larger scale, but again was extremely moving. It was a moving tour and generally well managed - my criticisms are personal but I would not have missed the opportunity to visit this place and pay my respects to the innocent victims of genocide.
