Amazing trip!
Nice small group and our guide was very passionate and knowledgeable about Auschwitz.
The day was planned to perfection and we were the last group out meaning photo opportunities were great and we didn’t have to fight through any crowds. We were given informative guidebooks for the day too, although the guide was so good at explaining things beyond the pictures and artefacts, we didn’t need them!
I learned about this subject back in school but not to the extent of what I was taught by our guide yesterday. Seeing everything in the flesh was really difficult to process at times but doing the tour made me feel like these people got to tell their story and their bravery and legacy lives on and inspires us all, in so many different ways. You can’t not be affected by what happened, and it’s a reminder that we must look out for each other and always try to do better.
A must do for visiting Poland and I would 100% recommend this particular tour.
As a side note:
Make sure you wear comfortable clothes and shoes, be prepared for a lot of walking, and if it’s in the warmer months bring sun cream. Lunch isn’t provided so it’s a good idea to bring snacks and expect to be back late depending on what time you have the tour!
I never saw anybody taking selfies yesterday, but sometimes you do get people and we need to remember this place is a graveyard in some respects, it’s not just a museum.
