Our guide, Matthew, was kind and knowledgeable. He drove my partner and I to several castles along the Eagle Nest Trail and answered my many questions about the history of the castles and the country . He did a great job picking castles for us to visit that are in various states of preservation or ruin. For example, the castle that the Witcher was filmed in is well preserved, with large portions of rooms still intact. Another casted Mathew took us to only had its original foundation but it has otherwise been rebuilt. Seeing it rebuilt gives you a sense of what it was like back when it was actually occupied. It was interesting to see these contrasts and to learn the history of who lived in each castle. One of my favorite parts of the trip though was getting to eat perogies at a restaurant that was located at the foot of one a castle.
Matthew provided us with a truly unique experience that taught us a lot about Polish history while experiencing some beautiful countryside on the outskirts of Krakow.
