Tour the remarkable and mysterious undergrounds of the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine, available with a guided group tour in English.
The Wieliczka Salt Mine was listed as a UNESCO site as one of the first objects in the world. It is not surprising, therefore, that interest in sightseeing increases year by year. The charms of the Mine, its mysterious corridors, chambers, salt sculptures and underground lakes can be enjoyed all year round regardless of the weather.
The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the most recognizable tourist attractions in Poland. About 1 million tourists visit every year. The origins of the mine date back to the Middle Ages. In the 16th century, the Wieliczka Salt Mine was the most profitable enterprise in Europe. Profits from salt extraction in the times of Casimir the Great constituted 30% of the entire kingdom's income. The mine draws the attention of many visitors thanks to the healing properties of salt.

If you are in Krakow, you need to visit the salt mines.
Be prepared to walk inside the mines. Lots of stairs. Some are slippery as they r made of salt.
The chapel inside was like a treasure. So glorious. There is a lift to get back out, so not to worry..although the waiting period for the lift is 20-30 mins.
You can take the 304 bus to the mines. You can either book your slot/ ticket online which include a guided tour in your desired language. You can also go to the mines and get your ticket, but you may have to wait for your time/slot. So i suggest you book online.. Which is cheaper.
You can also take an organised tour where the private bus picks you up at designated areas and drop you back.
Or else the public transport is also good. The same 304 takes you back to the city.
Do remember to wear good non slip shoes. Also take a sweater along and wear pants, cos it is a little cold in the mines.

We always double-check the availability with our local partners for each booking. Even though this is usually a swift process, it can take up to 24 hours.
