  • The option with private transport provides the private car taking you to Wieliczka Salt Mine, however you will join the group on the spot. So the sightseeing will not be a private experience. REMEMBER! Visiting the museum takes place in a groups of up to 20 people and it starts at the strict hours (the Wieliczka Sat Mine does not organize visits for smaller groups).

  • Taking photographs requires a special permit which may be purchased in the ticket office or during the visit itself. The permit price is PLN 0.
  • Wieliczka Salt Mine tour is not recommended for participants with walking disabilities (there are 800 steps on the way, including 380 right at the start) and for participants with claustrophobia.
  • The guided walk through Wieliczka Salt Mine consists of 20 monumental chambers joined by 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) of pathways. Visitors entering the Wieliczka Salt Mine descend a 380-step staircase to Level 1 (64 meters below ground level). This walk is not strenuous and can be undertaken in ordinary footwear, however we ask you consider the walk and 380-step staircase when booking this tour. The return to the surface will be by lift up the Danilowicz Shaft, from Level 3 (135 meters below ground level).
  • The maximum size of backpacks or handbags brought into the main cannot exceed dimensions: 35x20x20 cm.
  • Please remember that it is quite cool in the mine (between 14° C and 16° C). Make sure to take warmer clothing even in summer and wear comfortable shoes, as well.

We were on the short stay so booked through Cracow Tours which included bus ride from Cracow and back and the guided tour of the mine. The meeting point for the bus is next to the Wawel castle, very convenient. We got the confirmation mail about the pick-up time the day before the tour. Bus was on time, no wait. Nice drive. No line up. The professional guide (Dorota) from the mine was waiting for us. Thank you so much. It was very interesting. A lot of information.You need to be ready to go rather fast but you see a lot on the way. And the ride back was good. They asked for the hotel and drop us there which was great as we took afternoon tour and kids were sleeping on the way back.

Great chances for beautiful photographs of chapels, statues carved into walls. Very much a religious theme but not boring by any means. You wonder how people did this type of thing working in the dark all the time. One beautiful chandelier in the main gallery, may be made of salt chrystals, I don't know but this place certainly worth a visit. All guides very knowledgeable.

Zeer mooi, zeer professioneel. Alleen is het er zeer druk. Wij hadden al tckets gekocht in Krakau, daar is een bureau waar je tickets voor de mijn kan kopen. Dat was een goed idee. Zoals veel dingen in Polen en Tjechie zijn er kortingen voor studenten, maar je moet wel steevast de studentenkaart tonen.
