We enjoyed most of our trip to the salt mine. The guide we had was very informative and the statues amazing. Although we were prepared for the 800 steps down and the long treks into each chamber when we reached the bottom my knee was starting to ache and I was so pleased to see the lift to take us up to the surface! We were then informed that the lift was not working so we will have to go to the next lift which was some way away. The guide must have known it was not working and should of given us a choice on whether to go so far down or not.
We then had another long trek up and down more stairs and long corridors until we came to these tiny lifts. There was, of course a long queue which took ages before we reached the front of the queue. There were two little lifts one on the ground and the other one up another flight of stairs. I was in agony with my knee so when it was our turn one of the staff directed us to the upstairs lift so my husband said could we wait for the ground one, his response was a sneer!
We then were put in a tiny lift which should accommodate nine people. There were seven people in the lift and two more trying to get in. The staff did not allow for the size of those people and still insisted they enter. We were consequently crammed in I could hardly breathe. It was not the best ending to our trip.
