This is the best place in Sarawak to view semi-wild orangutans who have been rescued from captivity and trained to survive in the surrounding forest reserve. The rehabilitated animals roam freely in the rainforest and often return to the centre at feeding time. There is a good possibility of experiencing one of the most heartwarming sights in Borneo - an orangutan mother with a young baby. The centre is 45 minutes' drive from Kuching. We had the misfortune to visit this 'Rehabilitation' centre - we are both avid wildlife lovers who treasure our visits to Borneo. However, this was the worst experience we have ever had. All of the animals are contained within small confining, filthy enclosures with no visible signs of any form of enrichment. Indeed, one female Orang escaped from her enclosure assisted by one of the male Orangs the day we visited. We can hardly blame her. I cannot believe that anyone that works here is happy with the environment that these poor animals and birds are kept in. It is shocking - do not support this awful venue.

Der Nationalpark ist wirklich sehenswert. Die geführte Tour durch den Regenwald ist allerdings aufgrund der unbefestigten, steinigen und teils sehr steilen Pfade nur für sportlich-fitte Besucher geeignet. Die Hitze und hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit macht nicht nur älteren Personen zu schaffen.
