Vermilionville provides its guests with a place for history, music, food, cultural exchange, historic architecture and much more. This is a self-guided tour, where you can explore all of Vermilionville at your own pace.

    Walking through our 23-acre living history museum and folklife park will transport you back in time, landing in Acadiana in the years between 1760 and 1890. Come and meet our costumed artisans who are demonstrating trades and crafts exactly was they would have been performed in this era. You'll hear the stories of the Native Americans of the region, the Acadians, and the Creoles and people of African descent, learn about the region's history, and discover how their cultures developed into Acadiana's unique contemporary folklife.

Exciting tour of the old village with Kevin who conveys to us with humor and full of anecdotes his passion for the history of the Acadians and the Cajun world. Almost 3 hours: we don't see the past time! Thank you, Kevin!

I liked that they had homes displayed for two different incomes so we could compare. I like that there were people inside some of the homes to answer questions. I wish I would have known the cooking demonstrations were only on select days, I was really looking forward to that.
