Piazza Venezia, Rome, Italy Piazza Venezia is a very large square located in the heart of Rome and many important avenues merge into it such as Via dei Fori Imperiali and Via del Corso. The name of the square derives from Palazzo Venezia, a building previously used as Venice embassy in Rome. The square has changed its aspect many times over the years due to some construction and demolition of many buildings between the nineteenth and the twentieth century. One of the most important parts of the square is the enormous monument called “Vittoriano”, dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II, first king of Italy, situated between the square and the Capitoline Hill. With its impressive white aspect, the “Vittoriano” dominates Piazza Venezia and it’s made of white travertine.
