This is a full day visit to Lalibela rock hewn churches. Lalibela is located in the northern Ethiopia in the Amhara region. Lalibela rock hewn churches are dated back to over 900 hundreds years and some are curved out of a single rock.     In the morning from 8:30 am, you will visit the Northwestern Cluster of churches, also known as the Earthly Jerusalem. Namely; Bet Medhane Alem (House of Holy Savior), Bet Maryam (House of Mary), Bet Meskel (House of the Cross), Bet Dengil (House of Virgins), Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha (House of Michael and Golgotha).

  • Lalibela - Rock-Hewn Churches, Lalibela, Ethiopia
    In the afternoon from 2pm, you will visit the Southeastern Cluster of churches, also known as heavenly Jerusalem. Namely; Bet Gabriel and Rufael (House of Gabriel and Raphael), Bet Merkorios (House Mercurios), Bet Amanual (House of Emanuel), Bet Abba Libanos and Bethlehem (House of Father Libanos and House of Leham). Finally, you will also visit the purely monolithic and beautifully curved church of Saint George, locally known as Bet Giorgis, which was constructed by King Lalibela in honor of the patron Saint George.

Lalibela has been on my list for a long time. the trip did not disappoint. Beka made sure that I was taken care of at every step of the way ensuring not only that I experienced all that lalibela had to offer but also maintaining my safety.
