    Wonderful example of a square converted in Baroque style, it opens before us like a wing of a theater, on the left the wonderful late 17th century bell tower built by Giuseppe Zimbalo stands out over the square with its majolica dome; in the center the Cathedral with its façade characterized by a balustrade overlooked by the statue of the protector of the city, Sant'Oronzo, and adorned with flowers, angels and lanceolate points, a sublime example of fanzaghesco baroque; the Episcopio with the portico in propylaea, an admirable work by Emanuele Manieri; on the right the Palazzo del Seminario with its rustication and its eclectic baroque, the work of Giuseppe Cino. Lorenzo is not only incredibly knowledgeable about his city's rich history and stunning Baroque architecture, but he also brings an effortless charm and warmth that makes the tour feel personal and engaging. His cute accent and storytelling brings centuries of Lecce’s past to life, and he has a talent for weaving historical insight with local anecdotes. A lovely bonus was the stop for coffee at a local café relaxed, authentic, and the perfect moment to chat and soak in the atmosphere. Whether you're a history lover or just curious about Lecce, discovering Lecce with Lorenzo is an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended from this Irish man :-)

Lecce is een zeer elegante stad om er te zijn. Vooral veel gezellige (cocktail)bars, pasticerrie, restaurants, warenhuis Coin, mooie luxe kledingzaken, Piquardo voor luxe tassen en koffers annex kledingzaak, juwelierswinkels, etc. Er is voldoende om de dag door te komen. Vooral cocktail bar GIOI is the place to come and be!! Super vriendelijke bediening, kortom don’t miss this! Vanuit het winkelstraten wandel je zo het historische gedeelte in. Voor het bezoeken van de meeste kathedralen heb je ticket nodig. Alleen online te krijgen. Wij waren er 2 nachten, maar het was te warm. Ons volgend bezoek zullen we uitbreiden naar 3-4 nachten bij het zeer centraal gelegen hotel Mercure President. Mooi hotel zeer vriendelijke man bij het inchecken. Gelukkig hadden wij hem maandagmiddag 23 juni bij het inchecken. Over dé service van de dames, echt allemaal, is te zeggen zeggen dat zij zeer arrogant zijn. Hoewel de kamers alleen met ontbijtkoek boeken zijn. Stelt het ontbijt niet veel voor. Ongezellige inrichting, enorm groot, presentatie van het budget is heel mistroostig. Maar wij hebben heerlijk geslapen, goede parkeergarage, alles op loopafstand en schoon hotel.
