Lempuyang Temple, Karangasem, Indonesia Pura Lempuyang Temple is a Balinese Hindu temple located in the slope of Mount Lempuyang, 600 meters above sea level.
Known on the island as one of the most highly regarded temples in Bali, it has become more popular in recent years among tourists because of Instagram.
The Bali gateway to heaven is quite far from a lot of other typical holiday destinations in Bali. Although that doesn’t stop people flocking out East to witness the view amongst the clouds and capture some beautiful photos.
Please note :
- For women who are menstruating, they are not allowed to enter the Lempuyang temple and the gate of heaven.
- To enter Lempuyang Temple, must wearing sarong and dress modestly with closed shoulders.

Tirta Gangga, Karangasem, Indonesia Tirta Gangga literally means water from the Ganges and it is a site of some reverence for the Hindu Balinese. Strictly, the name refers to the water palace built in 1948 by the Raja of Karangasem, Anak Agung Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. It is, however, the name widely used to refer to the general area which includes the water palace and the lush rural areas around. Tirta Gangga water palace is a maze of pools and fountains surrounded by a lush garden and stone carvings and statues. The one hectare complex was built in 1946 by the late King of Karangsem but was destroyed almost entirely by the eruption of nearby Mount Agung in 1963. It has been lovingly re-built and restored and has an air of authentic royal magnificence.
The centrepiece of the palace is an eleven tiered fountain and there are many beautiful carvings and statues adorning the gardens. The area around Tirta Gangga is noted for its rice paddy terraces. 45 minutes

I had an amazing experience visiting Bali with my tour guide Agung. He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the history and significance of the places visited. He also made sure to take great photos for me, ensuring I captured the iconic places perfectly. Agung’s insights into the local culture and the temple’s spiritual importance made the experience much more meaningful. I highly recommend him to anyone visiting Bali – he truly made the trip unforgettable!

Guide was really helpful, kind and always on time. He knew what to do at every moment to avoid long waits. This was really convenient since this temple is one of the most visited in Bali.

We took this private tour on the 2nd to last day of our Bali visit. This was one of our best tour days with Safe Bali Driver (Ketut Suwenda) We started very early and like clockwork, Ketut was at our hotel ready to go. My wife started the morning not feeling that well and this was when Ketut was more like family than tour guide. He made sure she was well before we proceeded. Ketut was great with us at the temple as the wait for our photo shoot was long. He helped us with our photo ensuring our memories would be captured. I cannot say enough about how comfortable we were with Ketut as our private tour guide. I highly recommend this tour and using Safe Bali Driver (Ketut Suwenda)
